In the Final Edition...
In the final edition of the Grapevine on 26 July, 2013, it was reported in the article "From UP stage to small screen" (p6) that Liesel Harris is the director of the Krêkvars play, Kaftin and that she will feature in the upcoming South African film, Musiek vir die Agtergrond. It is in fact Lizelle de Klerk who is the director of Kaftin and who will star in this film.
It was further reported that Luan Jacobs will feature in Deon Opperman's latest project, Donkerland. This is not correct. He will be seen in Vir Beter of Baie Beter on kykNET.
We apologize respectively.
Thank you

Letter from the Editor, Annine Dormehl - New voice for the Grapevine
For
the past few weeks, drama students have rehearsed until the early hours of the
morning to prepare for the 13th annual Krêkvars Student Arts Festival.
The
Krêkvars week has always been a special time of the year for me. Since my days
as a first year, I've missed a fair share of classes to be delighted by what
was brought to the stage by my fellow students.
This
year I am thrilled to be in charge of the team of journalists and reviewers who
are committed to bringing you festival news, insightful reviews and behind the
scene interviews.
For
the first time the Grapevine will be produced by honours students from
the university's Journalism Program. We will bring you four editions of this
new, revamped festival paper during the week of 19 to 27 July.
In
this edition, you can read more about the introduction of the i-Ticket system
and what Professor Marié-Heleen Coetzee, head of the drama department, believes
Krêkvars means. In every edition you can also get a look at the daily
production schedule.
Our
reviewers will share their thoughts on the festival productions in the second
edition (which will be distributed from Tuesday the 23rd of July).
Look
out for our staff members who will be selling copies at the box office.
Enjoy
every second of the festival and remember to watch as much as possible (even if
it means that you might have to skip a few classes).
