If you are a fan of John Mayer, perhaps a lover of the Afrikaans
language and maybe are a women's libber, this would be the perfect show for
you. A one-woman musical, Marcia Moon graces the audience with smooth acoustic
tones from her guitar coupled with her edgy, dynamic voice.
The title of the show, The Crow, is the main theme of the show. She uses speech intervals
between each song to elaborate on the myths and connotations of the bird. In
the beginning she describes it as a creature that symbolized torture, murder
and death. At another point, she describes it as a magical creature that was
“once colourful, but turned black because it knew too much.”
Her six songs range from songs of her childhood to
mysterious songs in which she cleverly and translucently conquers the
characteristics and folklores of the bird.
An intimate setting, with warm lighting solely placed on
the performer, this show takes for a very deep, obscure performance that would
not only draw you in, but cause you to also think deeper, beyond the surface of
what you see around you. - Simisola
